It was with great sadness to report earlier this week Fabiola Dupoux-Leger, former manager of Konpa Kreyol and current manager of Haiti based band Krezi Mizik’s manager was kidnapped on Monday, October 30th in Haiti after leaving a meeting regarding the band. Fabiola who was taken with three other individuals has been released unharmed, however, a ransom for an undisclosed account was given to secure her release.

These ongoing kidnapping cases have made Haiti the number one kidnapping country in the Americas. The rise of kidnappings has contributed to the perception that Haiti is “plagued by insecurity,” An average of 8 people are kidnapped in Haiti on a daily basis statistic shows. Everyone can easily become a target no matter which walks of life you are from. While many were returned home safely, some with families that can’t raise enough funds in a timely manner to pay off the ransom demand are usually never seen again alive. Keep these victims in your prayers and also pray for this increase of widespread corruption to cease.
