On Saturday, May 27th at around 1:00AM in the morning, Opa received a phone call that Djakout Mizik’s musicians were the victims of an attempted murder. It’s unclear at the moment who was the actual target. As the van that was transporting the musicians to the club that they were supposed to be playing in pulled up, an assailant in a Honda pulled up and open fire on the van. Few shots were fired and two of them hit Djakout Mizik’s sound tech, Belloni Jean Philippe. He was rushed to the hospital where he underwent immediate surgery and had the two bullets removed and he’s currently in good condition. No word yet on who might have ordered the hit on the band but a lot of speculations are already circulating. The band canceled their Saturday gig and it is uncertain at this point whether or not they will continue to play this weekend at all. More to come.

Update

Wes productions’ pointing finger at New York promoter, Country. Wes explained threats were made by Country for the parties that were supposed to take place this weekend. He said Country made it clear these parties wouldn’t take place after he made many attempts to have Wes pull his parties because it conflicted with his. Is there a war on the rise in the music industry among these promoters and are the musicians’ safety at risk here? Wes mentioned he was on his way to the precinct with Belony (the gentleman that got shot) to give a statement.
