Back in November of 2007, NY promoters gathered the media to witness a meeting they had put together to help stop what seemed to be a war in the making in the industry after a few public battles were fought among them right before the public’s eye. In one incident a musician has pulled off the stage while performing and during another, incident a promoter jumped on stage and attacked a fan. After some musicians, the public and media expressed concerns about this, the promoters decided to do damage control to protect their future investments. They got together and promised they would play nice from that point on and even took a stab at bringing some structure to the business.
Two years down the line we have what seems to be a silent battle going on between two well-known promoters. It all started when promoter A put out his flyer for Easter Weekend, a weekend known by most in the industry to he held by him for events. Not too long after that, Promoter B put out his flyer for a party to be held on the same day and Borough with a strong lineup, some have said in the industry. We’re not sure what really created this war but a source did tell Opa that it might have to do with a recent separation of a band. Apparently, after a member left the band he formed his own band which each promoter took the opposing side.
