Starz’ Original crime drama, POWER is the hottest show on cable television right now. The show was created by Courtney Kemp Agboh starring, Omari Hardwick, Naturi Naughton, Joseph Sikora, Lela Loren, and Curtis Jackson (50 cent), who is also the Executive Producer. Not since my days of watching Soap Net at night, has any show on Television gotten my blood pressure going through the roof as much as, POWER. I thought I had reached a point in my life where I left cliff hangers, melodrama TV shows behind. Now I find myself so invested in this show and I don’t know why; since I loathe almost 90% of the characters. This show is made up of a cast of morally bankrupted individuals. They are murderers, adulterers, drug dealers, thieves, and traders.
The show is set around the life of James “Ghost” St. Patrick, a married New York City drug dealer and womanizer who’s trying to leave his old profession behind to go legit in the night club business but every time he gets one foot out the door, he’s pulled right back in. He was able to eliminate his competitors, loosen the grips of everything holding him back, Ghost seemed invincible in the beginning but as the seasons piled up, it was clear he found his kryptonite in his high school sweetheart now turn, Assistant District Attorney, Angela Valdez.
After rekindling his relationship with ADA Valdez, Ghost planned on leaving his family and turned his back on his childhood friend and co-kingpin, Tommy to start a new and legitimate life with her. It was at that point his life started to spiral. Unbeknownst to Ghost, he was under federal investigation by Valdez’s office and leading the pact is none other than, Valdez’s obsessed ex-boyfriend, special agent, Greg Knox. Eventually, Knox was killed and Ghost is currently awaiting trial in his murder.
The show is currently in its third season and I haven’t missed a single episode. (I said I hated the character, not the show) If you haven’t seen POWER… please come out from under that rock you’ve been living under and get with the program. If you have been keeping up with the St. Patricks, then test your knowledge below. Don’t forget to share and let us know how you scored.
